About Us

We make things the way they've always been made. By hand, from the earth, to last a lifetime.

Our Story

Khoos was born in alQayat, a small village in Minya, Upper Egypt, where palm trees line the Nile and the art of weaving has been passed down through generations. What started as a desire to share this living craft with the world became a brand built on one simple belief: the most beautiful things are made slowly, with care, and from what nature provides.

Materials & Sustainability

Every Khoos piece begins with a palm leaf, one of nature's most rapidly renewable resources. Palm leaves are harvested without harming the tree, dried naturally in the Egyptian sun, and transformed without chemicals, dyes, or synthetic materials. What you hold is exactly what grew from the ground: nothing added, nothing wasted.

We also work with halfa grass and jute, ancient fibers that biodegrade completely and leave no trace. In a world of fast fashion and disposable goods, Khoos is the opposite: slow, natural, and built to outlast trends.

The Craft

Weaving a Khoos basket or bag is not a factory process. Each piece is shaped by hand using techniques refined over centuries in Upper Egypt, interlacing, coiling, and stitching patterns that require skill, patience, and an eye trained by years of practice. No two pieces are identical. The slight variations in texture and form are not imperfections; they are the signature of the maker.

The Community

Behind every Khoos product is an artisan from 9 village. These are skilled craftswomen and craftsmen whose livelihoods depend on the continuation of this tradition. When you buy Khoos, you're not just buying a bag, you're sustaining a craft, supporting a family, and keeping an ancient Egyptian art form alive.

Why It Matters

Mass-produced goods are cheaper. We know that. But they cost the earth more than their price tag suggests. Khoos exists for people who want to own something real, made by real hands, from real materials, in a real place. We believe that's worth something.
